Billabong is a sports apparel company specializing in surfing products. It is also quite popular worldwide for its line of casual wear. Australian surfer and surfboard maker Gordon Merchant manufactured his first Billabong product, the board short, in 1973. Today, this company offers not only board shorts but also walk shorts, t-shirts, tank tops, surfing accessories, and hats. Of its headgear, there are trucker caps, beanies, and flat brim hats.
Flat brim Billabong hats are worn by snowboarders, surfers, and skaters, but are not exclusive to these athletic types. Flat brim hats are also a popular fashion accessory for urban styles. We have seen Billabong hats on kids, on hip-hoppers, on ladies, on rappers, and on all kinds of fashionable urban dressers as part of their accessory. There are 2 styles of Billabong hats, and these are the line of trucker hats and the flex fits. Of the trucker hats, there are a number of different styles such as:
- Paddle. This is a $20 hat that boasts of an attractive artwork in the front panel of the cap. This is one of the Billabong hats that can honestly be advertised as made from recycled material. The polyester in this trucker cap came from 100% recycled plastic bottles.
- Backdoor is a $16 trucker hat, made out of foam, side woven label, and 5 panels. It is recognizable as one of the Billabong hats because of its screen printed wave design.
- Extreme. The third and last design for trucker Billabong hats. This one costs about $19.50, is made with 5 panels, cotton canvas, a front Billabong flag patch, and a rope cord on its visor.
Aside from trucker caps, the flex fit Billabong hats is the other hat type under this famous brand name. Unlike the trucker caps, these do not have plastic mesh backs. There are about 8 kinds of flex fit Billabong hats, and they are:
- Traveller. This $28 cap is a type of flex fit cap with an attractive but subtle flat tonal wave embroidery design, and a 3D Billabong script embroidery design at the front panel of the cap.
- A.I. Knockout. This line of products is named after professional Hawaiian surfer Andy Irons. It is a $26 flex fit hat with embroidery, appliqué, and screen print designs in its side and front panel. Aside from the A.I. Knockout Billabong hats, there are also A.I. Knockout backpacks and wallets.
- Glass Off. For those who want a little variety in their cap styles, the Glass Off has an all-over print made in a herringbone design. The front embroidery is in three colors as well.
- Preparation. The Preparation flex fit has an attractive front design made by screen printing and embroidery in three colors. The back embroidery is in the form of the Billabong logo wave.
- Dominate. This is one of the flat brim flex fit Billabong hats with an overall design of gradient stripes reaching right under the brim. Also inside the cap is gradient taping. It has a front metal badge and script embroidery in the side.
